The 2018 state accountability ratings for 1,200 school districts and district charters are now available. Beginning this year, all multi-campus school districts and charters receive an accountability rating based on an A–F scale
Applications for the 2019–2021 Grow Your Own: Teachers, Cycle 2 grant program are now being accepted. The Grow Your Own grant can be used to encourage high school students to consider teaching as a career, as well as paraprofessionals and/or teacher aides to pursue certification.
Texas schoolchildren will still learn of the heroic "Victory or Death" letter penned by Lt. Col. William Barret Travis while besieged in the Alamo, under streamlined social studies curriculum standards given approval by the State Board of Education.
