Jorge Antonio Alvarado is a Biliteracy Reading Academies Specialist in the Early Childhood Division. He has a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, a Master of Information Science degree from the University of North Texas, is a certified EC-8 teacher, and is a certified K-12 Public School Librarian.

He has been in education for more than 15 years encompassing teaching experience in the K-4 classroom, school librarian experience in elementary and middle school, Bilingual Curriculum Specialist experience at the district level, and has been a Reading Academies Cohort Leader.

Jorge uses his knowledge in literacy to plan and carry out high-quality professional development and believes great achievement begins with our most indispensable resource, Texas teachers.
