Revising and Editing Items

Multiple-choice revising and editing items will be included as field test items on grades 3–8 STAAR reading tests in Spring 2020 and 2021. These items will be embedded in the assessments and will have no accountability measure.

The new writing items will not become operational until the 2022–2023 school year. Please note that the grades 4 and 7 writing assessments will remain unchanged for the 2019–2020 and 2020–2021 school years. 

To help educators prepare students for the new writing item types, TEA has provided sample items for each grade. Each document includes two complete sets of editing and revising items per grade along with an answer key.
