ADSY Planning and Execution Full Year Redesign Program
The Additional Day School Year (ADSY) Planning and Execution Program (PEP) Full Year Redesign is an optional, additional grant program offering planning and execution support for ADSY grant recipients.
LEAs are not required to participate in PEP to receive ADSY formula funds.
The ADSY PEP supports LEAs with the planning, program design, and change management necessary to effectively add instructional days to the school calendar. Participating LEAs engage in a year-long planning process, with support from a learning community and a design and implementation partner from TEA’s approved vendor list, before implementing ADSY. LEAs interested in participating in PEP may reach out to adsy@tea.texas.gov for more information.
Cohort Strategic Planning Process
ADSY PEP participants will work with a design and implementation partner to create a strategic plan. An LEA’s strategic plan will include:
- Incorporating 30, additional, full days of instruction into the 180-day academic calendar with 75,600 operational minutes, to design a 210-day program that will be delivered by a certified teacher.
- A daily schedule that includes brain breaks, teacher planning time, enrichment time for students, and collaborative planning time.
- Adoption of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) during the full academic year for math and RLA. If curriculum selected does not appear on the HQIM list, it must be labeled meets expectations on Ed Reports or it must rate 80% or higher on all Texas Resource Review categories.
- Serve at least one grade level within grades PreK-5
- Campus academic calendar(s) include at least 180 instructional days with 75,600 operational minutes, not including staff development waivers
- Add up to 30 additional days of instruction in addition to the 180 instructional days in its regular academic calendar
- Have a certified teacher deliver at least two hours of instruction on designated ADSY days
- Host ADSY days separate from the regular instructional calendar days (e.g., ADSY days cannot be hosted in the second part of a regular instructional day)
