Texas Education Agency Reports and Data Portal
The Texas Education Agency believes the public has a right to know how its public schools are doing. Thanks to a decision in the 1980s to create the Public Education Information Management System, known as PEIMS, Texas has one of the largest education data bases in the world. It provides detailed information for researchers, parents and the public at large to view and learn about the workings of 1,200 districts and charters, as well as TEA. That information and other data is used to create a number of reports that provide information about a variety of topics, such as student performance, spending and implementation of legislation.
Performance Reporting compiles data to develop and report meaningful accountability ratings to help Texas public schools meet the educational needs of all students. As part of administering the state’s public-school accountability system, the division publishes assessment reporting and accountability data in several different formats, for different audiences, and for different purposes.

The Accountability Research Unit in the Division of Research and Analysis publishes annual reports on Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations, college entrance examinations (SAT and ACT), enrollment trends, grade-level retention, and completion, graduation, and dropout rates. The unit also coordinates and publishes the Comprehensive Report on Texas Public Schools, which is delivered to the Texas Legislature. In addition, the unit publishes occasional reports covering other education topics of special interest in Texas. The PEIMS Standard Reports meet general requirements for information concerning public education in Texas. Some of these reports comprise geographic information for each district and campus, while others contain listings of school districts or campuses by legislative districts. There are also reports that include information for high school graduates or information for student enrollment. The Results Driven Accountability (RDA) data is reported at district, region, and state levels on the performance of school districts and charter schools in selected program areas (bilingual education/English as a second language/English learners, other special populations inclusive of students in foster care, students who are homeless, students who are military connected, and special education). Data is provided as downloadable data files. The RDA Manual is a comprehensive technical resource designed to explain RDA calculation methodology and outputs for resulting LEA reports.
