Adopted State Board for Educator Certification Rules - Subject to SBOE Review
The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) has adopted the following rule actions subject to the State Board of Education (SBOE) review required by the Texas Education Code, §21.042. If the SBOE reviews and takes no action on a rule, the agency will file it with the Texas Register and determine a future effective date. Proposed Amendments to 19 TAC Chapter 229, Accountability System for Educator Preparation Programs
Summary: The proposed amendments would provide for adjustments to the 2022-2023 Accountability System for Educator Preparation (ASEP) Manual, would clarify the system for accreditation assignments, would clarify provisions for continuing approval reviews, and would include technical updates.

Resumen en Español: Las enmiendas propuestas proveerían ajustes en el Manual del Sistema de Responsabilidades Educativas para la Preparación de Educadores (ASEP, por sus siglas en inglés) 2022-2023, aclararían el sistema para las asignaciones de acreditación, aclararían las estipulaciones para las aprobaciones de revisiones continuas e incluirían actualizaciones técnicas.
Public Comment Period: August 18, 2023–September 18, 2023. The SBEC will also take registered oral and written comments on the proposal at the September 29, 2023 meeting in accordance with the SBEC board operating policies and procedures.
