Dyslexia Cyclical Reviews

The TEA Division of Review and Support will conduct Dyslexia Program Evaluations in alignment with the Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) Cyclical Schedule in compliance with federal and state requirements for serving students with dyslexia and related disorders; additionally, providing support to LEAs resolving specific issues impacting services and outcomes for students with dyslexia and related disorders.

All LEAs in the state of Texas will be, at a minimum, monitored every six years in a scheduled cycle. LEAs participating in the Dyslexia Program Evaluation will receive correspondence from the TEA at the start of the school year, and throughout the monitoring process. Annually, LEAs selected for monitoring will be reviewed in three groups as follows:

Group 1: October-December

Group 2: January-March

Group 3: April-June

The cyclical schedules can be found here:

Dyslexia Summary of Findings Report

The TEA reviews data collected as part of any monitoring review activity to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements. The dyslexia summary of findings report provides the results of the LEA's Dyslexia Program Evaluation related to federal and state monitoring requirements.

At the conclusion of the Dyslexia Program Evaluation, the LEA Dyslexia Designee will receive a summary of findings report illustrating the outcomes of the Dyslexia Program Evaluation.

The summary of findings will include:

  • a summary of the dyslexia program evaluation
  • identified best practices
  • growth areas
  • and recommendations for technical assistance and support (if applicable)

The Dyslexia Summary of Findings will be embedded within the Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) Comprehensive Cyclical Report and distributed to the LEA superintendent to provide a holistic overview of the monitoring outcomes for the implementation of special education services and the dyslexia program.

The reports for each cycle will be available on the pages linked below:
