Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Pursuant to TEC §38.351 Section (b) and Sub-section (c-7) each school district may select programs related to this area of mental health promotion and intervention, substance abuse prevention and intervention, and suicide prevention for appropriate implementation in the district. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports are strategies employed by schools to effectively teach, encourage, and reinforce pro-social behavior in and out of the classroom. Resources related to this component of school mental health focus on prevention and early intervention, teamwork between all adults, meeting students’ needs, and building a positive school climate and culture.
