AUSTIN – Commissioner of Education Mike Morath today announced approval of 41 new Early College High School (ECHS) designations for the 2017-2018 school year.

Early college high schools are innovative high schools that allow students least likely to attend college an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and either an associate degree or at least 60 college credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree. Under this model, an ECHS provides dual credit at no cost to students; offers rigorous instruction and accelerated courses; provides academic and social support services to help students succeed; increases college readiness; and reduces barriers to college access. 

The following 41 new campuses were designated for the 2017-2018 school year:

• Austin ISD (3) – David Crockett Early College High School; Eastside Memorial Early College High School; Sidney Lanier Early College High School
• Charlotte ISD – Charlotte Early College High School
• Dallas ISD (17) – Bryan Adams P-TECH at Eastfield College Pathways to Teaching Early College High School; Carter P-TECH at Cedar Valley College; Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Global Studies Health & Technology Early College High School; Franklin D. Roosevelt H-TECH at El Centro College Health and Technology Early College High School; Hillcrest Engineering Technology Early College High School; James Madison P-TECH at El Centro College Pathways to Technology Early College High School; L. G.
