The Generation Twenty-Five Charter Request for Application (RFA) was released on October 4, 2019. Applications for this cycle may be found on the Charter School Applicants webpage and are due to the Texas Education Agency on or before January 21, 2020.

Prior to submitting an application, prospective applicants are required to attend one of two Applicant Information Sessions: Friday, October 18 or Friday, November 1, 2019. Due to ongoing construction around the William B. Travis building, both sessions will be held in the Education Service Center Region 13 Building located at 5701 Springdale Rd., Austin, Texas 78723. The October 18 session will be held in the State Capitol room, and the November 1 session will be held in the Treaty Oak room. Please note, all prospective applicants must bring at least one board member to fulfill this application requirement.

The sessions will provide applicants with a better understanding of the application process, laws, rules, requirements, and considerations that govern the authorization of high-quality open-enrollment charter schools in Texas. Presenters will highlight topics such as education law, financial accountability, academic accountability, curriculum requirements, special education, and English language learners.

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m., and presentations are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Late arrivals may attend but will not receive credit towards the application requirement. Registration forms can be downloaded here and emailed to charterapplication@tea.texas.edu.
