Re: Formative Reading Assessments for School Year 2017-2018

This correspondence is to notify Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools that the following statewide licenses for formative reading assessments in grades 3–8 will be available through the Texas SUCCESS help center at ESC Region 20 for the 2017-2018 school year:

• Istation—formative assessments only for grades 3–5
• Edgenuity (formerly Compass Learning)— formative assessments only for grades 6–8

There should be no disruption in the availability of formative reading assessment tools in grades 3-8 available to districts for 2017-2018. Additional information regarding the formative assessment tools and related support is available through the Texas SUCCESS help center at ESC Region 20.

Please note that the availability of formative reading assessment tools only applies to the
2017-2018 school year.  School districts will need to plan to locally procure formative assessments for use in the 2018-2019 school year and beyond, as necessary.
