Category: Child Find Submission
Next Steps:  Share with local educational agency (LEA) and education service center (ESC) staff

The Texas Student Data System (TSDS) Child Find Collection for the 2023–2024 school year opened on September 11, 2023, for local educational agencies (LEAs) to promote data for children initially evaluated for special education with an eligibility determination date from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) encourages LEAs to start promoting data as soon as possible to ensure that all information systems are working properly and all Child Find policy questions can be addressed. The Child Find Collection includes State Performance Plan Indicator 11 (SPPI 11A – Timely Initial Evaluation; SPPI 11B – Eligibility Determination) and SPPI 12 (Early Childhood Transition), which are used for assessing an LEA’s procedural compliance with state and federal special education evaluation requirements.
