The Board will meet in open session and after determining the presence of a quorum, discuss the following agenda items:
1. Call to Order
2. Welcome and Overview
3. Discussion of Teacher Residency Preparation and Stakeholder Panel
This item provides the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) an opportunity to discuss and provide guidance to staff on future rulemaking related to teacher residency preparation. The SBEC will also have the opportunity to engage with a panel of invited stakeholders representing educator preparation programs (EPPs) and local education agencies (LEAs) who currently implement teacher residency programs in partnership.
4. Discussion of Continuing Approval Review Practices and Stakeholder Panel
This item provides the SBEC an opportunity to discuss and provide guidance to staff on potential future rulemaking related to the redesign of the continuing approval review process for EPPs. The SBEC will also have the opportunity to engage with a panel of EPPs who have participated in programmatic reviews focused on evaluating program quality for continuous improvement purposes.
5. Update on State Board for Educator Certification Enabling Legislation from the 88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session
This item provides an update and report to the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) regarding all SBEC-related legislation as a result of the 88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session.
6. Adjournment
The Board may go into closed session regarding any item on the agenda to the extent it is authorized to do so pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551. The presiding officer of the Board intends to be physically present in Room 1-104, William B. Travis Building, 1701 North Congress Avenue. Some members may attend via videoconferencing.
