- Use the online modules to coach and develop beginning teachers.
- Identify one module to work on at a time. Beginning teachers complete the module, including live or videotaped practice that is sent to you for feedback. After providing feedback, observe the teacher and provide follow-up coaching.
- During observations and feedback, use the “Observing in Classrooms: A Guide for Mentors” document to identify success points and impact for teachers. Also refer to the Start Here guide for common pitfalls when implementing techniques.

- Watch the seven-minute “Tour the TEKS Guide” with your mentee to familiarize them with the resource.
- Use the TEKS Guide to help beginning teachers better understand different English Language Arts (ELAR) and/or Spanish Language Arts (SLAR) student expectations while internalizing or developing assessments, unit plans, and/or lesson plans.
- Explore assessment items by student expectation when reviewing, internalizing, or developing summative and formative assessments with beginning teachers.
- Help beginning teachers understand how to differentiate instruction by examining the alignments section.
