New Educator Standards and Test Frameworks
The development of certification tests is based on the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)-approved certification standards for each field. Prior to approval by the SBEC, each set of proposed certification standards is posted for 30 days for public comment. Test frameworks, which help guide the test development process for a new or revised certification test and are based on SBEC-approved certification standards, are also posted for 30 days for public comment.

School Librarian and Reading Specialist Educator Standards Advisory Committee Nominations
At the direction of the SBEC, TEA is currently seeking nominations for Educator Standards Advisory Committee members for School Librarian and Reading Specialist certificate areas.
These Educator Standards Advisory Committees will:
- advise on relevant updates to the educator standards, and
- advise on issues related to the certificate area more broadly.
The nomination period begins on December 15, 2020, and closes on February 15, 2021. Educators may nominate themselves or another educator for committee consideration. To nominate an educator, please complete the appropriate nomination form below and submit the form via email to TEAEducatorStandards@tea.texas.gov on or before the February 15, 2021 deadline.
Educators who are accepted on the committee will be notified directly by TEA staff. TEA plans to bring between 8-15 committee members each for School Librarian and Reading Specialist committees to the SBEC for approval in April 2021.
