Procedures to Petition for Adoption of Commissioner of Education Rule Changes

You may petition a state agency for the adoption of a rule or rule change according to the Administrative Procedure Act (Texas Government Code, §2001.021). The commissioner of education has adopted rules that prescribe the form for a petition and the procedure for its submission, consideration, and disposition.

The procedure to petition for the adoption of changes to commissioner rules is codified as 19 TAC §30.1001.

You must sign the form and submit it to the commissioner by mail to Commissioner of Education, Texas Education Agency, 1701 North Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701; or by email to rules@tea.texas.gov.
