Resources for the Revised Mathematics TEKS

In April 2012, the State Board of Education (SBOE) adopted revisions to the mathematics Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for kindergarten - grade 12. This page provides resources to assist parents and teachers in the transition to the revised mathematics TEKS for K-8, which were implemented in 2014-2015.

Interactive Math Glossary: (outside source): This glossary was developed for teachers, but is helpful to parents in exploring and understanding mathematics vocabulary used in the K-8 math TEKS. Each term is displayed in a four quadrant Frayer Model that includes My Definition, Key Characteristics, Example, and Non-example.

Side-by-Side TEKS Comparison Documents: These documents present a side-by-side comparison of the old math TEKS and the current math TEKS for kindergarten through high school courses.

Texas: Algebra Ready (TXAR) Initiative: The ESTAR/MSTAR assessments are a part of the TXAR initiative. The ESTAR/MSTAR Universal Screeners (outside source) for grades 2 - 8 are used to identify students who are at-risk for struggling with algebra-related core instruction. The ESTAR/MSTAR Diagnostic Assessments (outside source) are used to identify why students are struggling with algebra-related core instruction.
