Differentiated Monitoring and Support System eLearning Series
A series of interactive eLearning Modules exists to support district and charter school staff engaging with the Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) system. District and charter school staff selected to engage in DMS activities are highly encouraged to participate in these training modules. While each module can be accessed at any time, it is recommended that participants begin with the Differentiated Monitoring and Support System Overview. Study guide materials are also available for download or print to supplement each eLearning Module in the DMS series.
Differentiated Monitoring and Support System Overview
In this short, 20 to 30-minute, module participants explore the DMS system including different pathways for monitoring, activities of review and support within the DMS system, and potential outcomes for Local Education Agencies following completion of DMS activities. Targeted Support Reviews and Cyclical Reviews are also described. After completing this eLearning module participants should:
- Be able to explain the DMS system for special education monitoring in the State of Texas
- Be able to identify the essential requirements of each component within the DMS system
- Be able to explain potential outcomes of special education monitoring within the DMS system

Differentiated Monitoring and Support System: Strategic Support Plan (SSP)
During this 30-minute presentation, participants will receive an overview of the Strategic Support Plan, which is part of the Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) System used to monitor special population programs in the State of Texas and walk through the development process.
At the conclusion of the presentation, participants should be able to:
- Summarize the purpose of the Strategic Support Plan
- Recall program requirements for submitting a Strategic Support Plan
- Develop a Strategic Support Plan

The SSP template and resources may be located in the Ascend Texas application through the Texas Education Agency Login (TEAL).
Webinars
The Division of Review and Support will be presenting webinars to provide information regarding special education monitoring in Texas. For those unable to attend, the webinars will be recorded and posted to the website and questions can be submitted to reviewandsupport@tea.texas.gov.
