Open Education Resources (OER) Digital Assessments
OER Assessments Are Now Available in the Test Delivery System (TDS)
TDS is TEA's platform for administering assessments online, including State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
The K-5 Math COVID Emergency Release Edition V2 2022-23 is currently called Eureka Math TEKS Edition. TEA’s OER team launched K–5 Math assessments in TDS in August 2022. K–5 RLA Literacy Program assessments will be released in TDS on a rolling basis throughout the 2022–23 school year.
Benefits of Digitally Administering Eureka Math TEKS Assessments
- Teachers can conveniently administer mid-module and end-of-module K–5 Math in the same online platform as STAAR.
- First- through fifth-grade students practice online assessments of K–5 Math that is learned in class. Kindergarten teachers can use the digital platform to record interview assessment data.
- The digital assessments option closely matches the paper versions of the assessments and incorporates some of the new STAAR item types.
Paper and Digital Assessment Comparison
K–5 Math will be available for paper and digital administration. Key differences between paper and digital content:
- Some items will only appear in print for lower grades because they do not transition to a digital format.
- Many items have transitioned from open-ended response to other assessment types (e.g., multiple choice, matching, hot spot, etc.) to allow for computer grading.
- Multi-part items are categorized by Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards to allow for a one-to-one matching of items with a single student expectation.
- Best practice would be to administer either a digital or print version of the assessment, not both.

Digitization Process
- TEA created the OER assessments that align with TEKS and curriculum taught in class.
- A vendor converted paper assessment items to the digital format for the TDS platform.
- TEA’s OER content leads and assessment team assured alignment and gave feedback to the vendor for revisions.
- TEA piloted the assessments with students to gather feedback for continuous improvement of assessment items.
