TEA Releases Spring 2025 STAAR® End-of-Course Assessment Results

Date

AUSTIN, Texas – June 10, 2025 – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) today released the spring 2025 results for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) high school End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. These results are a key measure of how Texas students are performing in Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II and U.S. History.

This year’s results show modest year-over-year changes, with gains in Algebra I and Biology and slight declines in English I, English II and U.S. History.

In Algebra I, 47% of students met grade level, up slightly from 45% in spring 2024. Biology showed a notable improvement, with 62% of students meeting grade level compared to 57% last year. English I and English II saw slight declines, with 51% (down from 54%) and 56% (down from 60%) of students meeting grade level, respectively. U.S. History remained relatively stable, with 68% meeting grade level, down a percentage point from 2024.

The data above reflect the performance of all students. Examining the performance of specific student groups is also useful. In Biology, performance improved for all students, including economically disadvantaged students, students receiving special education services and emergent bilingual students, as noted below:

“Texas students and educators continue to work hard to demonstrate academic excellence,” said Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath. “At the same time, we also recognize that too many students are still not where they need to be academically. Using a reliable system of assessments, we can continue making progress on the strategies that are most effective in improving student learning and long-term success.”

The 2025 STAAR EOC Analysis provides a more detailed statewide summary of the Spring 2025 EOC results.

STAAR EOC assessments measure whether high school students have mastered end-of-course knowledge and skills they need to progress to the next level and, ultimately, graduate ready for college, a career or the military. As of today, parents and families can view their child’s individual STAAR EOC results by visiting their school system’s family portal or TexasAssessment.gov using the unique access code provided by their child’s school. By reviewing individual results, families gain a clearer picture of where their child is excelling and where targeted support may be beneficial.

STAAR EOC aggregate level data by state, region, district or campus is available to view and download on the Texas Assessment Research Portal

Results for STAAR grades 3–8 assessments will be made publicly available on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. On that date, parents and families can view their child’s individual 3-8 results using the unique access code provided by their child’s school or by logging into their school system’s family portal.
