The purpose of this communication is to inform school systems of the release of the Preliminary 2026 Accelerated Testers Student Listings on November 20, 2025. This confidential data will be available for district and campus review on the TEA Login (TEAL) Accountability application.
Accelerated Testers Definition
Accelerated testers are defined as students who earn Approaches Grade Level or above on the Algebra I, English II, and/or Biology STAAR EOC prior to grade 9. To fulfill federal testing requirements, these accelerated students must take a corresponding subject area SAT or ACT while in high school.
Students included on the listing were reported as enrolled in grade 11 on the 2024–25 PEIMS Summer Submission of attendance, and they have either:
- taken an Algebra I, English II, and/or Biology EOC assessment prior to enrolling in grade 9 and earned Approaches Grade Level or above; or
- earned course credit for Algebra I, English II, and/or Biology in Spring or Summer 2020.
Students are attributed to the last district and campus at which they were reported in attendance during SY 2024–25. The Preliminary 2025 Accelerated Testers Student listing will reflect the subject area in which the student is considered accelerated and whether the student has a corresponding SAT or ACT on record. Results through May 2025 (2024–25, 2023–24, and 2022–23 school years) will be included.
Accelerated testers’ results are included in performance calculations, affecting accountability ratings, and ensuring that accelerated students are factored into a campus’ academic outcomes. Performance results for accelerated testers will be included in the STAAR components of the Student Achievement; School Progress, Part B: Relative Performance; and Closing the Gaps domains. Academic Growth is not calculated for SAT or ACT results for accelerated students. Accelerated Testers are included in participation rate calculations. Academic Achievement performance calculations in Closing the Gaps are impacted when participation rates are less than 95 percent.
Preliminary Accelerated Tester Listings Available in TEAL
Authorized district users are able to access the data through the TEAL Accountability application. Districts are encouraged to thoroughly review their data to verify student participation and assessment records.
Additional information on the inclusion methodology for accelerated testers is available on the Performance Reporting Resources page.
Final Accelerated Testers Student Listings – Spring 2026
Updated 2026 Accelerated Testers Student Listings will be released in Spring 2026 and will reflect accelerated testers reported by each district as enrolled in grade 12 for the 2025–26 PEIMS October Snapshot. The students included in the updated listing will be the final list of students to be evaluated as accelerated testers for 2026 accountability reports.
While SAT or ACT results on the updated listing will still reflect results through May 2025, the 2026 accountability calculations will include SAT or ACT results through May 2026. The STAAR student listings released in TEAL Accountability in August 2026 with the Preliminary 2026 A-F Ratings will include these additional results.
