Key Point:

In accordance with Texas Education Code, §37.108(c), each school district is required to report the results of their safety and security audits to the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC).

Audit Cycle and Reporting Requirements

The end of the 2017-2020 audit cycle is approaching, and it is time for school districts to report their audit results to the TxSSC via the District Audit Reporting Tool (DARtool). The DARtool consists of questions pertaining to districts’ safety and security audit results and other district safety and security issues.

The TxSSC has requested and received a waiver/suspension from the Office of the Governor to extend the school safety and security audit cycle deadline from August 31, 2020 to October 31, 2020, due to COVID-19. For more information about the audit extension, visit the TxSSC COVID-19 FAQ webpage.

The DARtool has been open for submission for several months now and the deadline to report audit results is November 15, 2020

Each superintendent and/or their designee received an email link from the TxSSC to access the DARtool in April of this year, followed by subsequent monthly email reminders. It is essential that all school districts report their audit results to the TxSSC to avoid non-compliance with this mandate.
