For the 2022-2023 school year, the Texas Student Data System (TSDS) Child Find collection, including State Performance Plan Indicators 11 (SPPI 11: Timely Initial Evaluation) and 12 (SPPI 12: Early Childhood Transition), submission deadline is July 27, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
Data Collection Period
The data collection period for the Child Find collection is from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
- Applicable for children with a special education eligibility determination date (E1716) within this date range
- Collect data for both enrolled students and non-enrolled children, regardless of final special education eligibility status
- Unique ID required to submit data for each child (refer to TSDS Child Find: Unique ID for Non-enrolled Children for guidance)

Data Submission Deadline
The data submission deadline for the Child Find collection is July 27, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
- Extensions available on a case-by-case basis through the TSDS Core application
- Access to extension requests limited to LEA Superintendents or delegates with the “Core LEA Data Approver” TEAL role and “Child Find Access” privilege
- Users can mark the LEA data submission complete beginning on May 15, 2023
- All other system functionality, including promoting data, running reports, and correcting data validation errors, remains available prior to the submission deadline
LEAs with no students to report for SPPI 11 or SPPI 12 are not required to submit Child Find data but may be contacted by the TEA to confirm their “no students to report” status.

For questions, please contact your respective ESC TSDS Child Find Champion or TSDS Technical Champion (ESC 1-10 or 11-20). Support can also be obtained from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) by submitting a TSDS Incident Management System (TIMS) ticket within the TSDS Portal.
