Overview

To support implementation of House Bill (HB) 1605 and the upcoming Local Classroom Reviews for the 2025–2026 school year, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requests that each school district or charter school submit a Superintendent Designee Authorization Form. This form designates a representative authorized to submit local classroom review requests and access  completed reports.

Background

As outlined in the May 29, 2025, To the Administrator Addressed correspondence, Local Classroom Reviews evaluate the alignment and rigor of instructional materials used in Texas classrooms. These reviews ensure that materials correspond with district-adopted resources and meet grade-level rigor.

School systems may submit requests for reviews beginning September 1, 2025, in accordance with proposed 19 TAC §67.1501. Local Classroom Review requests may only be submitted by school system Superintendents or an authorized designee.

Grant funds will be used to support local classroom reviews. Funding availability will depend on the volume of local classroom review requests throughout the year. Once all grant funds have been spent, school systems may continue to submit requests; however, review costs must then be covered with local funds.

Action Required

Please complete the Superintendent Designee Authorization Form by August 30, 2025. In the absence of a designated representative, access will default to the Superintendent. You can access the form using the following link:
