The Board will meet in open session and after determining the presence of a quorum, discuss the following agenda items:

  1. Call to Order
  2. Welcome and Overview
  3. Discussion of SBEC Priorities Focused on the Continuous Improvement of Educator Preparation

This item provides the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) an opportunity to discuss the Board’s long-term priorities focused on improving the quality and consistency of educator preparation, including priorities related to updating educator standards and certification exams, developing a Texas-specific teacher performance assessment, redesigning the continuing approval review process for educator preparation programs, and supporting implementation of recent updates to educator preparation program requirements.

  1. Discussion of Educator Preparation Stakeholder Group

This item provides the SBEC an opportunity to discuss the Educator Preparation Stakeholder Group (EPSG) and provide TEA staff with direction on the future role and membership of the EPSG.

  1. Adjournment

 

The Board may go into closed session regarding any item on the agenda to the extent it is authorized to do so pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551. The presiding officer of the Board intends to be physically present in Room 1-104, William B. Travis Building, 1701 North Congress Avenue. Some members may attend via videoconferencing.
