The agency offers many resources to districts and charters to help them
provide Safe and Healthy Schools for all students.
This section includes the statutes related to student discipline, law and order in public schools (found in Chapter §37 of the
Texas Education Code), as well as resources to help individual school districts
write and enforce student disciplinary policies that comply with the statutes. Restorative Discipline is a prevention-oriented approach to discipline that fosters accountability and amends-making to resolve school conflict such as bullying, truancy and disruptive behavior.
Districts and charters will also find information in this section about
ways to provide guidance about important safety issues, including child abuse prevention and human trafficking. Our coordinated school health program page
helps districts address students’ physical, mental, and social well-being. The
state also provides resources for pregnancy related services.
Also in this section, you’ll find information about the Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative (PFAI), which gathers physical fitness data from
Texas students for analysis to determine the relationship between student
