Subject: Jobs and Education Training (JET) Grant Program

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has announced the availability of at least $5 million in job-training funding from the Texas Legislature for the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program for FY2018.

This funding is for the purchase of equipment needed for use in career and technical programs that prepare students for high-demand jobs in Texas. Please be advised that, in addition to public community, public state and technical colleges, independent school districts are eligible to apply. ISDs must partner with a public junior college, public state college or public technical institute. This is a relatively new opportunity for funding for school districts, and past recipients have been awarded up to of $345,000. Districts considering adding programs of study aligned to regional labor market needs and increasing their relationship with their community and technical colleges are encouraged to apply.

Eligible educational institutions can apply for JET funding through a competitive grant process. TWC has issued a Request for Applications (RFA) solicitation that provides information and instructions on how to submit a proposal packet.

TWC’s JET Grant Program webpage has a link to access the RFA Solicitation at http://www.txsmartbuy.com/sp/32018-00060 . Karol Huntmoses, TWC Grant Administrator, is the authorized agency contact for this RFA. Questions should be emailed to rfpgroup@twc.state.tx.us .
