Local School District Revenue Options

The Texas Legislature and the state of Texas provide a robust set of funding sources for school systems. Many of these sources of funding are within the school system’s control and many are aligned to components of a strong academic strategic plan.

The suite of resources provided are designed to inform and guide school system leaders, including superintendents, chief financial officers, district cabinet members and school board members, to support local decision making to maximize available state funds to promote increased student outcomes.

The resources include an introductory webinar that walks through the information provided in the Local School District Revenue and Funding Decisions deck. Below under Resources is a link to the updated District Funding Decisions Tool to support decision making to maximize the uptake of available state funds and the related impact on student achievement. This spring the regional service centers will host a series of meetings to provide a deeper dive into the components of the statutes giving school boards and school system leaders local control over how much total funding is generated by a local district.  The calendar for these meetings is included below.
