Thanks to a decision in the 1980s to create the Public Education Information Management System, known as PEIMS, Texas has one of the largest education data bases in the world. It provides a treasure trove of information for researchers, parents and the public at large to mine and learn about the workings of 1,200 districts and charters, as well as TEA. That information and other data is used to create a number of reports that provide information about a variety of topics, such as student performance, spending and implementation of legislation.

Highly Qualified Teacher Reports
This page provides general information and data reports on state compliance with the Highly Qualified Teacher provision, a federal requirement under the No Child Left Behind act that all teachers teaching core subject academic areas meet specific competency and educational requirements.
PEIMS Standard Reports - Personnel Reports
The PEIMS Standard Reports page, includes Superintendent Salary Reports, Staff FTE and Salary Reports, and Teacher FTE Counts and Course Enrollment at the state, region, district, and campus levels.
TPEIR Staff and Teachers Report
The Texas Public Education Information Resource (TPEIR) website provides reports and data on Texas educational topics and trends, including information on Staff and Teachers. This report provides statewide counts of Texas public school personnel by role, subject area, and full-time equivalent (FTE).

Teacher Vacancy Task Force Final Report
The Teacher Vacancy Task Force's (TVTF) final report, Developing a Thriving Teacher Workforce in Texas, includes policy recommendations to address teacher vacancies throughout Texas.
Through examining research and evidence, considering the perspectives of educators across the state, and continuous stakeholder input, the TVTF developed recommendations focused on support for teachers in the key areas of teacher compensation, training and support, and working conditions. In order for these recommendations to be implemented and expanded, the TVTF recommends that they not only be offered as options for districts, but that additional funding be allocated at the level necessary for successful implementation.
The TVTF was established in March 2022 by Governor Abbott to examine teacher retention and recruitment challenges across Texas. The TVTF met from March 2022 to February 2023 with the primary objectives of understanding challenges school systems are facing related to teacher vacancies and developing recommendations for regulatory or other policy changes for the Texas Education Agency, the Texas legislature, and local school systems.
Student Data provides detailed reports all aspects of student-related data including student demographics, Student Assessment results, Completion, graduation, and dropouts, AP and IB, college admissions testing, TPEIR reports for graduation, dual credit, and high school to college, and grade-level retention.
Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB)
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) prepares data and reports related to Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) testing in Texas public schools.
College Admissions Testing (SAT and ACT)
This page contains data and reports related to college admissions testing, including SAT and ACT, in Texas public schools.
Completion, Graduation, and Dropouts
The annual report includes state summaries of the annual dropout rate, longitudinal graduation, completion, and dropout rates, and state attrition rates. Supplements to the report present secondary school completion, graduation, and dropout data at the county, district, and campus levels.
Discipline Data Products
The Discipline Data Products are downloadable reports and files. The statistics in these products are extracted or calculated from the data collected through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).
Enrollment Trends
This page provides statewide enrollment data by grade, student characteristic (race/ethnicity, gender, and economically disadvantaged status), program participation, special populations, and education service center region. National enrollment trends are also reported.
Grade-Level Retention
This page contains data, reports, and additional resources related to grade-level retention in Texas public schools.
PEIMS Standard Reports
The PEIMS Standard Reports are provided to meet general requirements for information concerning public education in Texas. The reports include geographic information for each district and campus; listings of school districts or campuses by legislative districts; information for high school graduates, or information for student enrollment. Other PEIMS Standard Reports include information concerning superintendents, staff or teachers employed by school districts.
State Overview - Pocket Edition
Published annually since 1991, the Pocket Edition reports a variety of state-level statistics. The topics include information on students, test performance and participation, graduation and college admission, attendance, graduation completion and dropout rates, accountability ratings, personnel, and finances.
TPEIR Reports - Graduation
Graduation data on students who complete all requirements to receive a high school diploma.
TPEIR Reports - Dual Credit
Fall concurrent/dual credit enrollment by institution type for Texas public higher education institutions by fall report year.
TPEIR Reports - High School to College
Information on student college enrollment is provided for Texas public 2-year and 4-year colleges. Reports are available at institution level or by student enrollment classification level.

The agency regularly prepares a Comprehensive Report on Texas Public Schools, as well as various reports on charter schools, school discipline, waivers, district demographics, financial data, and school district performance. Comprehensive Report on Texas Public Schools
The Comprehensive Report on Texas Public Schools describes the status of public education in Texas and provides extensive information about academic excellence indicators, state assessments, graduation and dropouts, grade-level retention, accountability ratings, curriculum, and charter schools.
Charter School Reports
Our charter schools reports page includes a summary of charter awards and closures; listings and maps of all Texas open-enrollment charters, charters holders, and charter campuses; information about recent charter closures; charter school accountability reports, and charter school program evaluations.

Waivers Online Report
Each year Texas school districts can apply waivers for issues like attendance, class size, course requirements, educator certification, and textbooks. You can search our Waivers Online Report page by waiver status, school district, waiver type, and date.
Snapshot
Snapshot: School District Profiles is a TEA product that provides general information about the characteristics of public school districts in Texas. Topics include demographic information about students and staff; financial information about school district budgets, property values, and state financial assistance; and information about student performance on state administered assessment instruments and college admission tests.
District Type Data Search
The district type data search divides all Texas public school districts and charters into the following nine categories: major urban, major suburban, other central city, other central city suburban, independent town, non-metropolitan: fast growing, non-metropolitan: stable, rural, and charter school districts.

Texas Academic Performance Reports
The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), formerly known as the AEIS (Academic Excellence Indicator System) reports, pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and low income status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.
Accountability Rating System
The Accountability Ratings site shows ratings as well as the data used to determine the ratings for each campus and district. The site also shows the Distinction Designations earned by campuses.
Accountability Research
The Accountability Research Unit in the Division of Research and Analysis is responsible for research and policy analysis on state and federal accountability measures, education policy research, development of public school data and information systems, and reports on educational progress in Texas public schools.
School Report Cards
The School Report Cards (SRC), produced annually for each Texas public school campus, contain some information from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), as well as some information from the Accountability Rating System for Texas Public Schools and Districts.
The Texas Education Agency produces a variety of financial reports throughout the year. These reports provide information on school district financial compliance, school district budgets and spending, state funding, TEA expenditures, and the Texas Permanent School Fund.
Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas
These reports provide an overview of each district's financial accountability status known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) rating. The state's school financial accountability rating system ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices.

School Finance Reports & Data
These reports and data sources provide information on the state funding that districts receive and how that funding is calculated.
Popular TEA Financial Reports
TEA payment reports, overseen by the agency's Accounting division, show payments made by TEA to school districts, charter schools and other entities. The Foundation School Program Payment Ledger, overseen by the agency's State Funding division, provides access to a number of financial reports, such as the Summary of Finances report.
Texas Permanent School Fund
The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF), a multi-billion dollar education endowment, was created with a $2,000,000 appropriation by the Texas Legislature in 1854 expressly for the benefit of the Texas public schools.
Where the Money Goes
The Comptroller of Public Accounts page provides information on how Texas state agencies, colleges, universities and other institutions are spending your tax dollars right down to the pens and pencils.
The Texas Education Agency is required to provide reports on a variety of topics to the Texas Legislature. Currently reports to the 85th and 84th Legislature are available online. Reports presented to early sessions of the legislature may be obtained by contacting TEA's Governmental Relations Division.
After each legislative session, the Texas Education Agency produces a briefing book that describes new laws that impact public education.
