Colleges, universities, employers, and other organizations must obtain verifications and certificates directly through the Texas Certificate/Transcript Search.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) no longer distributes certificates, transcripts or verification letters by mail, fax, or email.

Important: If you earned a traditional high school diploma, contact the school district from which you graduated to request your transcript and diploma. High school equivalency records are maintained separately from high school graduation records.
Test Taker Eligibility
To take the high school equivalency exams in Texas, an individual must:
- be a resident of Texas,
- have a government-issued photo ID, and
- be 18 years of age or older.

Preparation Information
Study material is available at most libraries and book stores. Most preparation books have practice tests that will help you determine when you are ready to test. Helpful information is also available on the GED Preparation Resources page.
