Procure Instructional Materials in EMAT
Instructional materials previously adopted and newly approved by the State Board of Education (SBOE), as well as non-adopted or non-approved instructional materials, can be purchased with a district’s Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment (IMTA) using EMAT, the state’s online ordering system.
Before procuring materials through EMAT, local educational agencies (LEAs) must complete a set of required prerequisites:
-
Complete the Certification of Provision of Instructional Materials (formerly known as the TEKS Certification Process).
-
Complete EMAT training.
-
Obtain EMAT Ordering Access by requesting the EMAT application in TEAL.
-
Select summer ship dates in EMAT (only applicable during summer).
-
Review and update contacts and addresses in EMAT.
Please note that the EMAT system closes for updates once per year, typically around April, and reopens in May for districts to place orders for the upcoming school year. It is highly recommended that LEAs complete the Certification of Provision of Instructional Materials during this time.
How to Order Instructional Materials
Once all prerequisites have been met, LEAs can log in to EMAT to begin ordering instructional materials. For instructions on how to create orders in the EMAT system, please refer back to the EMAT Training webpage.
For the current list of adopted instructional materials and multiple list codes, review the Instructional Materials Current Adoption Bulletin.
Ordering Accessible Materials
Accessible formats of SBOE-adopted instructional materials, including braille, large-print, and audio, are provided free-of-charge to eligible students. All accessible instructional materials can be ordered through the EMAT system.
Emergency Assistance
Districts affected by a natural disaster can create a needs list in EMAT to inform potential donors of specific needs. Visit the Instructional Materials Emergency Assistance webpage for videos and detailed instructions. Districts and other entities that wish to donate materials can do so within EMAT or by submitting a Help Desk ticket.
