This technology applications web page provides clarification, guidance, and support to technology applications stakeholders, including districts, schools, parents, educators, and students, for the development and implementation of the K–8 technology applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

  • New Technology Applications Newsletter:

    Based on input from educators and stakeholders, TEA has begun the publication of a new technology applications newsletter. Readers may find a variety of technology applications-specific information that will be addressed throughout the year, such as– 
  • Technology Applications TEKS Implementation:

    The implementation year for the 2022-adopted technology applications TEKS is 2024–2025.

     
  • Nomination Window Open - Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST):

    The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K - 12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching. The awards were established by Congress in 1983. The National Science Foundation, under the direction of the White House, approves the Texas candidates for the national award. If selected as an awardee, the applicant will receive recognition from the President of the United States, an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. for recognition and professional development events, and $10,000 to be used at the awardee's discretion from the National Science Foundation.

    This cycle is for teachers of kindergarten through grade 6. In Texas, eligible teachers who submit a completed application by the PAEMST deadline to submit, will receive 25 CPE hours.

Current Technology Applications TEKS

The links below provide access to the web-based version of the current technology applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), which are the state standards for what students should know and be able to do. You can also access a PDF version of the TEKS.

The current Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for technology applications (adopted 2011) were implemented beginning in the 2012–2013 school year. The following TEKS for technology applications are in effect until the 2024–2025 school year.

Technology Applications TEKS To Be Implemented In 2024–2025

In 2022, the State Board of Education gave final approval to revised TEKS for technology applications which are scheduled to be implemented beginning with the 2024–2025 school year.

Beginning the 2024–2025 school year, the TEKS for technology applications that were adopted in 2011 will be replaced by the revised TEKS for technology applications that were adopted in 2022.

In accordance with Proclamation 2024, a review of instructional materials related to technology applications is currently in progress. The preliminary results of this subject-area review can be found on the Proclamation 2024 Pre-Adoption Samples webpage on the Instructional Materials Division page.
