To ensure our students are prepared for this future workforce, The Texas Education Agency developed a STEM Framework for districts to use as a guide for STEM programming and is working to establish a Texas EcosySTEM – a collaborative effort that unites various stakeholders to work towards the common goal of increasing access for young people to STEM-rich learning environments so that they are engaged and have mastered the necessary skills for success in STEM careers.

Announcements

    Texas Mobile STEM Lab Expansion

    TEA is excited to announce the Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory program is expanding to nine mobile units. Three labs will be operating during the 2024-2025 school year, and the full fleet will begin operating in 2025-2026.

    The 2024-2025 campus selection will be announced the last week in June.

    TEKS Guide is Live

    The TEA Science Curriculum Team is excited to announce the launch of the Science TEKS Guide. This tool will help provide a consistent and clear interpretation of the new science TEKS and guide educators as they navigate the new engineering components so that all science educators in Texas have the same understanding of the standards. To access this resource, select Science and a grade level or course in the drop-down menus.

    Texas STEM Education Definition

    STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is a method of hands-on teaching and learning where students learn to apply academic content by creatively solving real-world problems with innovative design-based thinking to prepare students for future career opportunities.

    Texas STEM Education Framework

    The STEM Education Framework provides the definition, theory of action, and objectives for implementing STEM education across Texas. The framework includes strategies for success, differentiated STEM implementation models, research-based methods of instruction, and high-quality STEM indicators. Stakeholders can use this framework as a guide when creating their customized STEM programs.
