The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is committed to supporting school systems in their efforts to improve the safety and security of school facilities for staff, students, and visitors.
Overview
TEA has awarded $1.5B through authorization from the Texas Legislature to support school systems in meeting the adopted School Safety Standards. TEA awarded this funding to school systems through the School Safety Standards Formula Grant, SAFE Cycle 1, and SAFE Cycle 2.
Programmatic Reporting Requirements
TEA will be launching the next cycle of programmatic grant reporting through Sentinel starting January 30, 2025, and ending March 7, 2025. The programmatic grant reporting will collect information about current grant expenditures from school systems. School systems receiving one or more of the above school safety grants are required to complete this programmatic reporting.
Office Hours
TEA will host a series of Office Hours sessions in February and March to support school systems through the programmatic reporting process. In addition, TEA will post video tutorials about the programmatic reporting process in Sentinel. Note: Office Hours attendance is optional.
