Texas Education Agency Begins Second Phase of Marlin ISD Board Transition
Marlin ISD Board is now comprised of a majority of elected trustees
AUSTIN, Texas – January 30, 2025 – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) today announced the initiation of the second phase of the governance transition process for the Marlin Independent School District (MISD) to return governance authority from the appointed Board of Managers to the elected Board of Trustees. This marks an important step and highlights the progress the district has made in improving both student academic performance and governance practices.
Reinforcing National Trends and State Assessment Data, Texas 2024 NAEP Results Highlight Need for Academic Improvement
AUSTIN, Texas – January 29, 2025 – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) today announced Texas’s results on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). 2024 NAEP results reinforce what results on the 2024 State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) have shown Texas educators - persistent challenges remain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NAEP is administered in reading and math for a sample of students in 4th and 8th grades roughly every two years in every state.
