How to Become a High School Equivalency Testing Center

The Texas State Board of Education has authorized TEA to issue contracts to two vendors who will be providers of high school equivalency exams for individuals testing for the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE). Tests may only be administered by TEA-authorized testing centers under Texas Administrative Code §89.42  Official Testing Centers.

NOTE: Educational Testing Service (ETS) has notified TEA and the state board of education that they will not administer the HiSET test in Texas after 8/31/2021. All current and prospective HiSET test-takers should plan to complete testing in Texas as soon as possible, but no later than 8/31/2021.  The last day to take a HiSET test in Texas is 8/31/2021. TEA is no longer accepting applications for HiSET testing centers.
