Virtual and Hybrid Courses
All virtual and hybrid courses offered under Texas Education Code (TEC), Chapter 30B are required to meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and align with the National Standards for Quality Online Courses. Each course must be designed with appropriate rigor to prepare students for success in the next grade level or subsequent course.
Virtual Course List
The virtual course list expands learning opportunities by providing students with access to a broader range of subjects than may be available at their local school. The course list includes both local and statewide virtual options. Schools, parents, and students can review offerings to choose suitable courses and contact providers for enrollment information.
Students enrolled in virtual or hybrid courses who are present on campus for part of the day will have their attendance recorded during scheduled on-campus class times. If they are not present during the official attendance-taking period, schools may record attendance during an alternative time.
School systems receive the same amount of funding per student for virtual or hybrid courses as they do for the same courses offered fully in-person.

To support informed choices for families and streamline access to virtual learning opportunities, school districts and open-enrollment charter schools offering virtual courses under TEC, Chapter 30B must annually submit the Virtual Course List Form. This submission certifies that each virtual course meets the required course guidelines outlined in TEC, Chapter 30B.
For the 2025–2026 school year, fall courses were due September 30, and spring and summer courses were due December 15. If you missed a deadline, please reach out to our team for assistance.
