Overview
The Texas Legislature appropriated $400M in October 2022 to assist school systems with replacing or upgrading doors, windows, fencing, communications and other safety measures.
School Safety Standards Formula Grant Extension
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will be extending the School Safety Standards Formula Grant (SSSFG) to April 30, 2026, through authorization from the Texas Legislature. As part of this extension, the Program Guidelines for the grant will be updated in the coming weeks to reflect updated grant events, and TEA will update the Notice of Grant Awards (NOGAs) to reflect this change. Revised grant events are as follows:
- Amendment Due Date: January 30, 2026
- End of Period of Performance: April 30, 2026
- Final Expenditure Report Due: July 29, 2026
SSSFG recipients should review their compliance status with the adopted School Safety Standards and their SSSFG expenditures in accordance with the grant program guidelines listed below.
