Strong Foundations Implementation Supports (SFI) offers local educational agencies (LEAs) grants to help them implement instructional materials effectively and provide high-quality professional development for educators, coaches, and leaders. LEAs can choose from three types of support and apply for more than one option.

Support Options

(Option A) SFI Year 1 Supports

Option A is for LEAs implementing approved instructional materials in K–5 Reading Language Arts (RLA) and/or K–5 Math during the 2024–25 school year with teachers, coaches, and administrators in Year 1 of implementation.

(Option B) SFI Year 2 Supports

Option B is for LEAs implementing approved instructional materials in K–5 RLA and/or K–5 Math through a Learning Accelerated Support Opportunities (LASO) grant during the 2023–24 school year. It provides an extra year of support for teachers, coaches, and administrators who will be in their second year of implementation during the 2024–25 school year.

(Option C) Secondary Math High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) Implementation for LEAs

Option C is for LEAs implementing approved instructional materials in 6–12 Math during the 2024–25 school year.

Grant Information

In all SFI grant options, LEAs are required to use:

  • 50 percent of funds to contract with a provider from the LASO Cycle II state-approved vendor list
  • 20 percent of funds for additional support from the provider contracted and/or salaries for instructional coaches or other positions directly supporting implementation
  • 30 percent of funds for other allowable expenses (e.g., print materials, digital licenses, teacher stipends, instructional coaches)

Review the SFI Program Guidelines (PDF) for more detailed information about the use of funds.

For information about eligibility requirements, resources, and timelines, review the SFI portion of the LASO Cycle II page
