State Board of Education asks for public input on new Long-Range Plan for Public Education

AUSTIN – Help the State Board of Education set long-term goals for the Texas public schools by completing an online survey that will be used to set educational priorities.

The survey covers five broad areas:

  • The desired outcome of public education;
  • Educator preparation, recruitment and retention;
  • Equity and access to funding, technology and advanced courses;
  • Student engagement and empowerment;
  • Family engagement and empowerment.

The survey is available in English and Spanish. The English-language survey can be found at http://sgiz.mobi/s3/Long-Range-Planning-Survey and the Spanish-language survey is available at http://sgiz.mobi/s3/Encuesta-de-opini-n-p-blica-para-Texas. The survey will remain open through 5 p.m. March 2.

The board, with guidance from an 18-member steering committee, is in the process of developing a new Long-Range Plan for Public Education that will set goals through the year 2030.
