All proposed new rules, proposed amendments to existing rules, and proposed repeals approved for first reading by the State Board of Education (SBOE) and filed with the Texas Register are available here. You may submit public comments on proposed rules electronically to rules@tea.texas.gov. Please specify in your message the rules to which your comments apply.

Proposed Repeal of 19 TAC Chapter 114, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Languages Other Than English, Subchapter A, Elementary, §114.1 and §114.2, Subchapter B, Middle School, §114.11 and §114.12, and Subchapter C, High School, §§114.21-114.29

Summary: The proposed repeal would remove the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills adopted to be effective in 1998 for elementary, middle, and high school languages other than English, and related implementation language, that will be superseded by new 19 TAC §§114.3, 114.4, 114.13, 114.14, and 114.31-114.52 beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.

Proposed New 19 TAC Chapter 114, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Languages Other Than English, Subchapter C, High School, §114.53, Advanced Language for Career Applications

Summary: The proposed new rule would implement House Bill (HB) 1431, 84th Texas Legislature, 2015, which requires the State Board of Education to develop an advanced languages other than English course that prepares students to communicate in a language other than English in a specific professional, business, or industry environment.
