School Performance

  • Through the Public Education Information Management System, known as PEIMS, Texas has built one of the largest education data bases in the world. This data provides a treasure trove of information for researchers, parents and the public at large to mine and learn about the workings of 1,200 districts and charters, as well as TEA. That information and other data is used to create a number of reports that provide information about a variety of topics, such as student performance, spending and implementation of legislation.

    Texas Academic Performance Reports

The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), formerly known as the AEIS (Academic Excellence Indicator System) reports, pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and low income status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.

    Accountability Rating System

The Accountability Ratings site shows ratings as well as the data used to determine the ratings for each campus and district. The site also shows the Distinction Designations earned by campuses.

    Accountability Research

The Accountability Research Unit in the Division of Research and Analysis is responsible for research and policy analysis on state and federal accountability measures, education policy research, development of public school data and information systems, and reports on educational progress in Texas public schools.

    AYP (Priority First Schools)

The State of Texas has secured a conditional waiver from the U.S. Department of Education for specific provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), commonly known as the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. Under the provisions of Texas Education Code (TEC), Chapter 39, the state is required to provide interventions to improve identified low-performing schools.

     Performance-based Monitoring Analysis System

The Performance-Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) is an automated data system that reports annually on the performance of school districts and charter schools in selected program areas (bilingual education/English as a second language, career and technical education, special education, and certain Title programs under the No Child Left Behind Act).

    School Report Cards

The School Report Cards (SRC), produced annually for each Texas public school campus, contain some information from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), as well as some information from the Accountability Rating System for Texas Public Schools and Districts.

    Texas Consolidated School Accountability Report

The Texas Consolidated School Accountability Report (TCSR) provides a summary of the community and student engagement ratings for districts and campuses, along with state accountability ratings with Distinction Designations, and Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) ratings.

    Texas Performance Reporting System

The Texas Performance Reporting System (TPRS) provides additional performance reports and results for student groups not previously reported on 2013 state accountability reports, the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), or the School Report Card.
