SUBJECT: Availability of Reasoning Mind's math system for Texas districts

The purpose of this correspondence is to notify districts of the opportunity to participate in Reasoning Mind's comprehensive early algebra preparation system at no cost for the 2013-2015 biennium (2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years).

Funding for this initiative was authorized by the General Appropriations Act, Article III, Rider 62, 83rd Texas Legislature, (2013) with the goal of improving student achievement in mathematics and preparing students to meet the Algebra I end-of-course standard.

Reasoning Mind is a 501(c)(3) organization that partners with schools to help better prepare students in early grades for later success in algebra. Reasoning Mind partners with schools to offer a comprehensive and coherent digital math education system integrating a TEKS-aligned curriculum, individualized online learning for students, and customized professional development for teachers for grades 2 through 6. To learn more about Reasoning Mind visit http://www.reasoningmind.org.

If a district is selected for this opportunity, participating campuses will be provided resources and services at no cost beginning as early as September 2013 and continuing through the end of the 2014-2015 academic year. Each campus will receive access to the Reasoning Mind online mathematics curriculum for students in grades 2-6, professional development for teachers and administrators serving those students, and regular support sessions by qualified implementation coordinators.

Districts interested in learning more about participating in the Reasoning Mind program are invited to attend informational webinars held on September 20, 24, and 25 and on October 1, 3, 8, and 10. All webinars will contain similar content. To register for a webinar visit http://webinars.reasoningmind.org.
