To The Administrator Addressed:

SUBJECT: E-plan System for Technology Planning Set to Retire

For the past 16 years, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) (now the American Institutes for Research (AIR)) have provided an online tool, ePlan, allowing districts to submit technology plans to the agency. In the past, technology plans were a requirement of the federal E-rate program and a requirement for accessing various funds from TEA. Technology plans are no longer required for E-rate or for accessing those funds at TEA.

The use of the ePlan system has dropped over the years. Currently, less than 10 percent of the state’s districts use the system, which has essentially become an online filing system for these technology plans.

Due to the lack of use, TEA will be discontinuing the ePlan system effective June 1, 2019. If your district has stored technology plans in the system, please download a copy of your current plan or copies of past plans in the system before that date.

TEA will store a copy of the plans but will not store the plans indefinitely.  Again, if you need a copy of your plan or plans, please download them by June 1, 2019.

If you require assistance with downloading a copy of your plan, please contact the Classroom Connectivity Initiative at classroomconnectivity@tea.texas.gov.
