Nwando Clyburn is the Reading Academies Director in the Early Childhood Division at the Texas Education Agency. She has a Bachelor of Science Interdisciplinary Studies from Prairie View A&M University. She also holds a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction-Literacy Studies from the University of Texas Arlington.

Nwando has over 16 years of experience in the field of education. She began her career as a primary grade teacher. She has also served as a secondary Master Reading Teacher, elementary Reading Specialist, kindergarten through third grade literacy coach, a Reading Academies Cohort Leader and a literacy specialist at the district level. Throughout her career she has provided high quality professional developments for educators and district leaders.

Nwando is passionate about literacy and is driven to ensure that high quality instruction continues to impact students across the state of Texas. Nwando believes that through a shared love of literacy and high quality reading instruction excellence can be fostered in every child.
