Provide input for the Long-Range Plan

Texans have the opportunity to help shape a new Long-Range Plan for Public Education by completing an online survey that is available in English and Spanish.

The survey is open through 5 p.m. March 2. The link to the survey in English is  http://sgiz.mobi/s3/Long-Range-Planning-Survey. The link to the survey in Spanish is  http://sgiz.mobi/s3/Encuesta-de-opini-n-p-blica-para-Texas.

Information received through the survey, as well as comments received during 10 regional meetings, will be used by the appointed Long-Range Plan for Public Education Steering Committee. This body will make recommendations that will go to the State Board of Education.

The state board is tentatively scheduled to approve a new plan this summer. The board plans to establish educational goals through the year 2030.

Based on recommendations from the steering committee, the community meetings and the survey are gathering information around four broad topics:

  •  Teacher recruitment, preparation, and retention
  •  Equity and access to funding, technology, and advanced courses
  •  Student engagement and empowerment to provide effective support systems for students and prepare them for life after high school
  •  Family engagement and empowerment to help parents become strong advocates for their children in the education system.
