Subject: Extension of Deadline for Filing Appeals of 2017 Academic Accountability Ratings for Certain Districts.

Because the effects of Hurricane Harvey continue to prevent normal operation of certain school districts and charter schools, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is extending the deadline for submitting appeals of academic accountability ratings for all districts and charters in the 58 counties declared disaster areas by Governor Greg Abbott.

The 58 counties are Angelina, Aransas, Atascosa, Austin, Bastrop, Bee, Bexar, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Colorado, Comal, DeWitt, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzales, Grimes, Guadalupe, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kerr, Kleberg, Lavaca, Lee, Leon, Liberty, Live Oak, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Polk, Refugio, Sabine, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Trinity, Tyler, Victoria, Walker, Waller, Washington, Wharton, Willacy and Wilson.

 For districts and charters in these counties, the deadline for submitting an appeal of academic accountability ratings of a district or campus is Monday, October 2, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. CDT. All supporting materials for the appeals must be postmarked by Monday, October 2, 2017, as well. A district or charter in the counties listed above that is unable to make the October 2 deadline is encouraged to contact the TEA department of Performance Reporting to determine whether alternate arrangements can be made
