Public Testimony Registration

Instructions and Procedures for June-July 2020 Meeting

Individuals may register online by clicking the link below starting at 8:00 a.m. (Central Time) on Thursday, June 25, and continuing through 5:00 p.m. (Central Time) on Friday, June 26. You may also register by calling (512) 463-9007. Late registration will not be available for this meeting.

Please read the registration instructions and procedures below.
A person may register himself or herself, and one other person. Organizations may not register more than two persons per item.

After an individual submits the registration form for the public hearing on Monday, June 29 or for an item to be considered on Tuesday, June 30, Wednesday, July 1, or Thursday, July 2 he or she will immediately receive an email confirming receipt of the form. Registrants will receive a second confirmation email with instructions for joining the virtual meeting to provide virtual public testimony. An individual should expect to receive the second email approximately 3-4 hours after submitting the registration form.

Public testimony to board committees is limited to the topics posted for action or discussion on committee agendas at that specific committee meeting.

The opportunity to testify on the health education TEKS and/or physical education TEKS is during the public hearings and testimony on these topics will not be permitted during related discussion items.

Public testimony at general meetings of the State Board of Education is limited to topics that are not posted for action or discussion at the corresponding regular committee meetings or information published in the information section of the agenda.

Three-(3) minute time limits on individual oral testimony will be imposed unless modified by the presiding chair. Testimony for the June 29 public hearings has already been modified to two (2) minutes. Agency staff shall inform the presiding chair and any affected registered speakers prior to the meeting if time constraints may not allow some registered speakers to testify. If accommodations, such as an interpreter, are needed, please call the State Board of Education Support Division in advance at (512) 463-9007.

If the number of registrations received indicates that testimony would exceed the time allotted, the presiding chair will determine which speakers will be heard and the order in which they will be heard. A registrant must indicate the viewpoint as “For” or “Against” the item or must indicate “Comment On” if the viewpoint will offer a mixed opinion.

I acknowledge that I have read the above instructions and procedures and am ready to proceed to registration.
