We Appreciate the Hard Work of Our Texas School Trustees

As we begin a new year, we recognize the month of January as School Board Recognition Month as declared by Governor Greg Abbott. As a former board member, I know the vital role board members face in giving our kids the best education possible. A big thank you to all board members for their service to their schools and communities across Texas.

Success in the classroom begins with decisions made by adults. It is only through the work of school board members across our state that we can see continuous improvement in student outcomes. The Texas Education Agency provides support to our school board members through Lone Star Governance training. Lone Star Governance provides intensive training to help school board members and superintendents work together to bring about the best education possible for the boys and girls they serve. Leadership matters and leaders’ choices have the power to transform student learning and the achievement of children. Please join me in saying thank you to the more than 7,000 community members who serve as school board trustees.
