Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Federal Submissions and Correspondence

The following documents and links catalog correspondence between TEA and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) regarding Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). All files are PDFs unless otherwise indicated.

December 5, 2012: 2012 Texas Consolidated State Application Accountability Workbook - TEA submitted the Texas AYP Workbook to USDE on February 15, 2012, and resubmitted it with USDE's requested revisions on November 13, 2012. USDE provided final decisions in response to Texas workbook amendments.

February 17, 2012: USDE Approves STAAR Bridge Study - USDE has approved Texas' proposal to conduct a bridge study between the State of Texas of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) for the purpose of evaluating AYP in 2012.

October 12, 2011: 2011 Texas Consolidated State Application Accountability Workbook - The Texas AYP Workbook was submitted to the USDE on June 28, 2011. USDE provided final decisions in response to Texas workbook amendments.

April 22, 2011: Final Commissioner of Education Decision on use of Texas Projection Measure for 2011 AYP Calculations - This is the Commissioner's final decision on the State Accountability System for 2011, which includes determinations regarding federal accountability.

December 21, 2010: Requested Changes to the Texas Consolidated State Application Accountability Workbook - includes proposed changes submitted to USDE for the 2011 and 2012 Texas AYP Workbook

October 29, 2010: 2010 Texas Consolidated State Application Accountability Workbook - The Texas AYP Workbook was submitted to USDE on July 19, 2010. USDE recently provided final decisions in response to Texas workbook amendments.

July 23, 2010: TEA has issued a To the Administrator Addressed letter regarding recent USDE decisions on proposed amendments to the 2010 AYP calculations. This letter references the USDE approval of the Texas proposed graduation rate goal and targets for 2010 AYP. The Texas amendment requests submitted in February 2010 for 2010 AYP were fully approved by USDE on July 12, 2010.

April 14, 2010: Summary of Requested Amendments to the 2010 Texas Consolidated State Application Accountability Workbook - This table includes proposed changes to the Texas AYP Workbook submitted to USDE.

January 15, 2010: Requested Graduation Rate Changes to the Texas Consolidated State Application Accountability Workbook - The Texas information template submitted to USDE for peer review contains the proposed changes in the AYP graduation rate calculations as required under final regulations issued by USDE on October 29, 2008. Also available are a one-page summary of the Requested Amendments and Supporting Documentation from TEA.
